The ANC on Friday declared its readiness to “crush” the opposition parties in next month’s municipal elections.
Speaking during an interview with Weekend Witness, ANC Moses Mabhida regional task team (RTT) co-ordinator Mandla Zondi attributed the ANC’s slow start to the elections campaign in Pietermaritzburg to amendments made by the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) to the November 1 elections calendar.
“The amendments resulted in delays in things like the printing of ANC elections posters. However, now that everything is in place we are raring to go, and from this weekend each corner of the streets in Msunduzi and other municipalities in the region will be painted with green, gold and black colours. I can assure you now, no opposition party will win a single ANC ward or municipality in the region — we will return to all our municipalities and wards,” he said.
