KZN chef airlifted after he found at a construction site in Ballito, north of Durban.

A 36-year-old chef, Stevan Kruger, has been found after an aerial search of a construction site in Ballito, north of Durban, on Tuesday.

Kruger left his home on Monday afternoon in a white Mazda 2. He had informed his friends that he was conducting target practice with his air rifles at a construction site between the M4 and N2.

His family was worried when he did not return home and searched for him throughout the night. Due to the heavy rains on Monday night, the area he had gone to was not accessible by a car.

Spokesperson for the Reaction Unit South Africa, Prem Balram, said their pilot and crew spotted Kruger’s white Mazda 2 in an open area. He added the car was stuck in the sand.

Balram said Kruger was seen standing outside his car waving his arms for assistance. He spent the night in the storm, screaming for help after he injured his back attempting to lift the front of his vehicle.

He was treated for his injuries and dehydration.
