With 9 149 Covid-19 cases reported on Thursday, the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) says South Africa has technically entered the third wave.

This news coupled with rules on gatherings allowing for 100 people in indoor spaces and 250 people in outdoor spaces, has got various religious organisations in the province fearing for the safety of not only the members of their congregations, but the public as a whole.

CEO of the KZN Christian Council, Dr Douglas Dziva said that the groups affiliated with the council have already raised awareness of the third wave and are sticking to government regulations.
