Newcastle Municipality Acting Municipal Manager Vish Govender was removed on Wednesday.

The IFP-led Newcastle council has finally removed the acting municipal manager, Vish Govender, which the party accused of pushing an ANC agenda.

Govender, who was appointed during the tenure of former ANC mayor Ntuthuko Mahlaba, was removed during a special council meeting held on Wednesday.

The relationship between Govender and the IFP political leadership at the municipality took a turn for the worse after he suspended a senior official in the office of the IFP Newcastle mayor, Xolani Dube.
