The national police commissioner, General Khehla Sithole, has denied claims that security for the newly-appointed Zulu monarch, King Misuzulu kaZwelithini, has been withdrawn.

This comes after traditional prime minister to the Zulu monarch and nation, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, on Saturday said he was distressed by reports from Khangelamankengane Royal Palace that South African Police Service VIP Protection Unit have been instructed to withdraw from protecting King Misuzulu.

The new king’s rise to the throne was confirmed on Friday at the reading of the will of his late Queen Mantfombi Dlamini Zulu.
