The late monarch King Goodwill Zwelithini’s brother has approached the court to stop Prince Misuzulu Zulu from going ahead with Friday’s “coronation”.

According to the urgent application launched in the Pietermaritzburg high court — which will be heard on Thursday — Prince Mbonisi Zulu claimed that Prince Misuzulu was being installed as monarch at a secret coronation.

In the court papers, Prince Mbonisi claimed that, pending the finalisation of his application, KwaZulu-Natal Premier Sihle Zikalala should not recognise or take any steps which may be viewed as recognising Prince Misuzuku as isilo samaZulu (Zulu King).
