If the National Energy Regulator of South Africa (Nersa) approves the City’s proposed tariff increase, the 2021 municipal tariff will be catastrophic for many businesses and industries.

This was the view of the Association of South African Chambers (ASAC) leading up to a meeting with Nersa on Thursday. The association hopes to convince Nersa to limit tariff increases for municipalities.

ASAC represents seven chambers of businesses from cities across South Africa, including the Cape Chamber of Commerce and the Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber.
