Hundreds of people have made their way to the Douglas area in Evukuheni, about 35 km from Ladysmith, as diamond fever grips the small poor community.

“There are not only diamonds in the area, but gold as well,” said one of the community members that had joined the feverish search for the precious diamonds.

Members of the community could be seen walking with pick forks, spades and buckets as they made their way up the rocky, bush hill in search of treasures.
