Three people were killed when a car lost control and overturned on the N3 near Ladysmith early on Monday.
Road Traffic Inspectorate spokesperson, Zinhle Mngomezulu said the incident involving a Toyota Corolla with Ladysmith registration plates, happened at around 5 am.
The accident follows the death of a Hilton-based police officer, Andrew Jackson, on the N3 near Hilton at around 4.30 pm on Sunday.

Jackson was assisting with traffic control at roadworks where traffic had been reduced to one lane when he was hit by a car.
Police are investigating a case of reckless and negligent driving against the driver of the vehicle that struck him. However on Sunday morning police sources said the driver had not yet been charged as the investigation was still ongoing.
Two other accidents occurred on Sunday night in the same vicinity said Mngomezulu. One involved a truck that overturned injuring the driver, and the other a light motor vehicle with five occupants who were apparently returning from an outing at Midmar Dam when the vehicle veered out of control, injuring the occupants, said Mngomezulu.
She said it was alleged alcohol, along with the rain, played a role in the latter accident.
