Motorists using the N2 can expect serious delays on Thursday.

Both the northbound and southbound carriages of the freeway will be closed for blasting at 12.30 pm.

Traffic officers will closing the N2 for 30 minutes. There will be no access to the freeway between Queen Nandi Drive and the Gateway interchange in both directions.

The on and off ramps to KwaMashu will also be closed.

Senior Superintendent Parboo Sewpersad, from the Durban Metropolitan Police, urged motorists to carefully plan their journeys and to consider alternative routes where possible.

He added that congestion was likely to cause delays, not just on the N2, but on arterial roads.
