A truck driver was killed when his truck crashed into a concrete barrier on the Umgeni Road Flyover to the N2 on Tuesday morning.

Rescue Care said when paramedics arrived at the scene, they found that the container truck had crashed into the barrier with its trailer overturned.

“… In the force of the collision, the driver of the vehicle was ejected through the front windshield and over the bridge onto the highway below. Paramedics found the man to have sustained fatal injuries and he was declared deceased on arrival,” said Rescue Care.

The cause of the accident and the events preceding it are unknown and will form the subject of a South African Police Services investigation, said Rescue Care.
