A 75% water tariff increase for uMgungundlovu customers is ridiculous and will “strangle” the already cash-strapped consumers.

This was the view of DA councillor in the district Hazel Lake after an uMgungundlovu District municipality presentation at the budget steering and finance committee on Tuesday. The proposed increase is expected to be pushed through the council later this month.

However, uMgungundlovu District manager Dr Ray Ngcobo said the DA was jumping the gun.
