The ANC in KwaZulu-Natal is facing defeat in the upcoming local government elections.

This follows the ruling party’s failure to field council candidates for the October polls in several wards across the province’s municipalities.

Tabling the ANC’s report on the registration of ANC councillor candidates with the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) during a press briefing in Durban on Tuesday, the party’s provincial secretary, Mdumiseni Ntuli, confirmed the party would not be able to contest several wards in the province’s municipalities.
