KwaZulu-Natal Premier Sihle Zikalala on Thursday travelled to Nongoma to meet the Zulu nation’s new leader, King Misuzulu kaZwelithini, to deny rumours that government was planning to collapse his security measures.

IFP founder Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, the traditional prime minister of the Zulu nation, on Sunday said he had been told that the police were planning to withdraw the VIP protection officers currently guarding the new king.

Zikalala, who met the new king at the kwaKhangelamankengane Palace in Nongoma, said it was important for him to brief him, particularly given that the royal house fell under the Premier’s Office.
