University of KwaZulu-Natal virologist, Dr Khanyi Msomi, believes the benefits of having a Covid-19 vaccine far outweigh the risks.

She was speaking during a webinar, hosted by KZN MEC for health, Nomagugu Simelane-Zulu, to debunk myths and conspiracy theories around the coronavirus being circulated on social media.

Msomi said the consequences of not being vaccinated could be deadly. “The first time that the body encounters an infectious agent, it takes a long time for the body to mount a response that is not only specific, but also effective,” she explained.
