Protesters gathered outside the Verulam Magistrate Court on Monday morning calling for those appearing in relation to the recent unrest, not to be granted bail.

It was reported that several accused in relation with the unrest are to appear.

Members of the community came out in their numbers to urge the courts to oppose bail, while the message of saying no to racism was echoed through the crowd.

Traffic was backed up to and from the court, which is situated in the Verulam CBD, as police and members of SANDF cordoned off the street.
