Weston Agricultural College.

Weston Agricultural College in the Midlands remained closed on Friday amid negotiations between the Department of Education and Mooi-Mpofana municipality after the school’s electricity was disconnected this week.

Following an arrangement to pay, the lights were switched on again around noon on Friday.

Mooi Mpofana mayor, Xolani Duma told Weekend Witness via WhatsApp (as he was busy in a council meeting) that the municipality had received a firm commitment for payment from Weston Agricultural College in line with its credit control policy and “they should be reconnected in no time/soon”. He said the college owed the municipality R2,6 million and had given the municipality a firm commitment to pay half with the balance in three months time, together with their current invoice.
