Almost 40 manholes and sewers were found without the necessary and appropriate covering.

Ward 28 councillor, Lucky Naicker, said this after a recent article in The Witness highlighted an incident where a man fell into an open manhole and was injured.

The issue, which has plagued the city for many years is not being given enough urgency and importance by the municipality according to Naicker who said that since long before this incident he had been advocating for all manholes and sewers to be covered throughout his area.
