Opposition parties in KwaZulu-Natal claim Premier Sihle Zikalala’s State of the Province Address lacked substance.

Opposition parties in KwaZulu-Natal on Tuesday slammed Premier Sihle Zikalala’s State of the Province Address (Sopa) delivered on Friday as “empty rhetoric”.

Debating Zikalala’s Sopa during a hybrid provincial legislature sitting, IFP president Velenkosini Hlabisa accused Zikalala of “rehashing” old promises at a time when the province’s citizens were desperately looking for new answers.

“There is nothing new in the Sopa. The premier’s speech doesn’t show we are desperately wanting to come out of the corona strain,” he said.
