Wandering goats form easy prey for stock thieves in rural areas.
Alwyn Viljoen

An alleged goat thief who is accused of trying to bribe police officers investigating him is still in custody.

Sibanisezwe Ngcobo (35), of Umlazi, was supposed to appear in the Pietermaritzburg magistrate’s court on Tuesday for a bail application. However, he also had to appear at the Umlazi magistrate’s court for the theft of the goats.

By the time he arrived in Pietermaritzburg, it was too late for his bail application to proceed, so the application was adjourned.
