The N3 near Ashburton off-ramp has been cleared after both lanes were reportedly blocked by protesters on Tuesday morning.

Road Traffic Inspectorate spokesperson, Zinhle Mali confirmed that the N3 has been cleared.

“There was protest action earlier in the morning which only lasted for about 10 minutes,” said Mali.

It was alleged that the protest was by members of the Economic Freedom Fighters but that was dismissed by the party.

KwaZulu-Natal EFF chairperson, Vusi Khoza said he wasn’t aware of it and that the EFF had no protest.

“It could have been members of the community with a few EFF members wearing t-shirts but the EFF had no such program,” said Khoza.

It is unclear who was protesting.
