DA councillor Ross Strachan said on Thursday that the party was calling on KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta), Sipho Hlomuka, to declare Msunduzi a local disaster area.

Strachan said Msunduzi continued to deteriorate even though Cogta had intervened by placing the municipality under administration.
