Icebolethu Funeral Services cannot continue with a burial before a second wife releases the body.
Icebolethu Funeral Services cannot continue with a burial before a second wife releases the body.

A man’s first wife has managed to stop the second wife from giving him a traditional funeral in the wake of him dying of Covid-19.

“Basically her wanting to traditionally bury the deceased [Adpolphus Zuma], meaning slaughtering a goat, taking him out of the casket, and having him wear the goat’s skin, is putting everyone’s life at risk,” said Ntombithini Zuma in papers before the Pietermaritzburg high court last week.

She brought an urgent application to be allowed to bury the corpse according to Covid-19 regulations, which was granted.
