Losing a job can be traumatic for anyone, especially under the current climate whereby employment is often scarce to find.

But a new Pietermaritzburg entrepreneur Yogesh Rajbunsi has found a way to make the most of his situation and has finally embarked on his dream of owning his own clothing business.

After losing his job in June due to Covid-19-related layoffs, Rajbunsi found himself searching for employment for three months before he finally decided to take matters into his own hands and pursue his dream of entering the fitness-inspired fashion scene via his new clothing brand, Iron Game Fit Wear.

“I am a fitness fanatic, so much so that I haven’t smoked or had an alcoholic beverage since 2008. I am very familiar with our gym scene here in Pietermaritzburg having trained in various gyms throughout the city and saw a need for affordable gym/casual wear clothing ...” said Rajbunsi.

He is also in the process of attaining his qualification for personal training.

“I also noticed peoples’ desire to be different from one another in gym and therefore looked at creating a product unique from your usual gym apparel.”

Rajbunsi said that he knew after futile searches for jobs that he needed to take it upon himself to get his life back on track and found that he could finally turn his passion into a career.

“For me, I knew that I needed to do something I love and had extensive knowledge about.

“I also found, after doing my research and through my personal experiences, that gym apparel prices are sky-high and began noticing how gym wear was being more casually introduced into the everyday clothing wear scene.

“I also noticed peoples’ desire to be different from one another in gym and therefore looked at creating a product unique from your usual gym apparel in that the items that I create can be tailor-made to your specifications and are not limited to the gym.”

Rajbunsi says the response from the people of Pietermaritzburg has been overwhelming.

He says that his goal for his business is to move online and facilitate a process whereby his customers can create their own design.
