Vusumuzi Zulu, the assistant director of communications at the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, was found dead on Friday in the Msunduzi River where it curves behind the Pietermaritzburg Oval.

The 40-year-old father of two girls, aged eight and 10, went missing last Tuesday night, his wife, Nompumelelo Zulu, said on Sunday.

She said her husband told her at about 7.30 pm that he was leaving their home in Pelham and would be back shortly.
