KwaZulu-Natal whistleblower, Thabiso Zulu, who has been at loggerheads with authorities over his anti-corruption activities, on Monday appeared in the Pietermaritzburg court for assault

Zulu, who currently lives in Pietermaritzburg, was arrested on Sunday in connection with violence that ensued during an ANC councillor candidate nomination meeting in Haniville in the Msunduzi Municipality’s ward 29 in September.

According to the police docket, ANC ward 29 branch deputy secretary, Nomvuselelo Makamu, who was part of the chaotic meeting, alleged that Zulu punched her in the face.
