Man shot dead in his car in Woodlands, Pietermaritzburg

Pietermaritzburg police have yet another murder investigation on their hands after a man was shot dead in his car in the Woodlands Extension area on Saturday morning.

Pietermaritzburg police spokesperson Sergeant Mthokozisi Ngobese told The Witness that the incident happened at around 8 am on Woodlands Road.

He said the man, whose identity is still unknown, was found lying on the ground close to his silver Polo vehicle which was still idling next to him.

No arrests have been made, said Ngobese.

This is the fifth execution style killing in Pietermaritzburg and surrounds in less than two months.

On October 5, an Imbali woman and retired police officer, Buhle Constance Mlotshwa (57), was shot dead as she pulled up at her gate. She was returning from an evening prayer.

On September 28, Videsh “Debs” Debideen (54) of Howick West was also killed in a hit-style shooting as he pulled up to the gate of his home.

He was returning from work and he was waiting for the gate to open when two men approached his car and opened fire on him.

On September 23, Linda Lushozi from Imbali Unit 3 died in a hail of bullets while en route to visit a friend in Westgate.

He was found dead in the driver’s seat of his car with five gunshots to his body.

No one has been arrested for any of the murders and the families say they do not know what the motives for the killings might have been.

On September 30, Nosipho Mbuyisa Nyembe (40) was shot dead and her two children were injured in an execution-style murder at her home in Sobantu.
