Pietermaritzburg is set to host an Olympics Games Preparation event that will attract the crème de la crème of South African and African track athletes next month.

The event will be staged at the world-class Msunduzi Athletics Stadium in Alexandra Park on Friday, June 18. It will also serve as an opportunity to qualify for the Olympics.

The event comes after another postponement of the 22nd African Athletics Championships (AAC) which was scheduled to take place in Algeria from June 1-5.
