Midmar Mile to consider dropping aQuellé, sets 2021 race date

Midmar Mile organisers have confirmed a Valentine’s date for next year’s event, but they could drop their beleaguered title sponsor aQuellé­.

The open water swimming event will take place on February 13 and 14 at Midmar Dam, but the aQuellé­ logo has been removed from all of the race’s branding.

The aQuellé­ bottled water plant is owned by the KwaSizabantu Mission in Kranskop, and has been the target of a business boycott over allegations of human rights violations and financial mismanagement at the mission.
