It took Msunduzi Municipality 20 years to secure funding and finally stage a “sod-turning” event for a community hall in Madiba, Pietermaritzburg.

Msunduzi mayor Mzimkhulu Thebolla and speaker Eunice Majola, along with ward councillor Mike Amod finally handed over the R9,3 million project to Nkonka Civils and a subcontractor who will be responsible for the project.

The senior members of the ANC in Msunduzi on Tuesday however denied using government-funded projects to campaign in the municipal elections. This is despite ANC T-shirts with the face of a beaming President Cyril Ramaphosa being handed out from Thebolla’s car at the end of the event.
