Msunduzi’s cash woes have forced the municipality to temporarily withdraw from the South African Cities Network (SACN) because it can’t afford to pay the membership fee.

The municipality owes the network about R18,3 million for subscription fees dating back to the 2017/2018 financial year.

The last payment of R2 million was made to the network in July 2020.
