Msunduzi Municipality’s forests are burning a hole in the City’s finances and need to be offloaded as soon as possible.

That is the blunt recommendation from administrator Scelo Duma, who believes decisive action is needed to manage the plantations properly.

“Whether you auction it, or whether you lease it, you cannot carry on like this because, as things stand right now, this forestry is a liability to the municipality,” he said.
