A young graffiti and visual artist who painted a stunning scenic mural at Jill’s Corner on Connor Road in Pietermaritzburg, says such work is just a beginning for him as he plans to “paint the world”.
Jared ‘Jafar’ Maistry (20), from Dundee, said the mural of the sunset scene was requested by the owner of the property, which houses a massage parlour and a coffee shop, and represents “peace and tranquillity”.
He said the painting took him two weeks to finish with the help of a friend.
Maistry said despite him still trying to find his feet and not earning a steady salary as yet, he loves the feeling of freedom and liberation he gets when painting and advised other youngsters who love arts to follow their hearts.

“Follow your gut, follow your passion and go through with it. Don’t give up, do all that is necessary to move forward,” he said.
Maistry said his family, especially his mother, has been very supportive of his career and went on to express his gratitude for their support.
