KwaZulu-Natal is now officially the murder capital of South Africa, with Plessislaer in Pietermaritzburg being the police station with the highest number of murder cases in the whole country.

This was revealed by Police Minister Bheki Cele when he released the latest crime statistics on Friday afternoon.

The top three stations for murder are all in KwaZulu-Natal. In first place is Plessislaer with 73 cases, from January to March this year; followed by Inanda with 63 cases; and then Umlazi with 61 murder cases.
