The SA Weather Services (Saws) have quashed claims that snow fell in Ashburton and areas around Durban last weekend.

This as people from Ashburton and Hillcrest areas posted videos of what appeared to be snow falling there on Saturday.

Ruari Harrison, whose family has lived in Ashburton for over 30 years, said they had never seen snow there before. “But it was definitely snow. It was light and fluffy and fell slowly. It lasted for five to 10 minutes. Later it turned to sleet. There was rain in between.”
