National correctional services head, Arthur Fraser, has lost the battle to prevent suspended KwaZulu-Natal regional commissioner, Mnikelwa Nxele, from returning to work.

This comes after an arbitrator ruled that Nxele’s suspension contravened South African labour laws.

Nxele, who has been embroiled in a protracted labour dispute with Fraser, had challenged the national correctional services head’s decision to place him on suspension for the second time after another arbitrator in October had dismissed Fraser’s application to extend Nxele’s suspension.
