Two vehicles were damaged and torched at the Durban University of Technology Indumiso campus on Wednesday morning.

Durban University of Technology (DUT) Indumiso Campus, in Pietermaritzburg, has been temporarily closed following the riot that erupted in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

This comes after a group of higher certificate students allegedly set alight two vehicles belonging to the institution, as well as damaged the guardhouse and cafeteria building during their protests.

The students, some of whom were writing their final exams on Wednesday , were apparently angry that their enrolment grievances had not been resolved by the university, which meant that they would not be absorbed by the institution for the 2022 academic year.
