Scottsville Mall in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal, was apparently hit by looters at around 5 pm on Monday.

A supervisor at one of the stores who asked not to be named said the looters attempted to go in through the entrance to Debonairs Pizza before going in the main entrance.

He said upon entering they tried to get into the Checkers liquor store but found that it had been barricaded from inside.

The stores that appear to have been hit hardest were the Mr Price and a clothing boutique. In the absence of the police and law enforcement people are still hanging around the mall.

The clean up at Brookside Mall, which was looted and set on fire on Monday, is yet to start as people are still coming to see what they can get felt what’s left to take.
