A fire gutted one of the shops at the corners of Pine and Pietermaritz Streets in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal on Saturday morning.

The fire started early in the morning and the cause is unknown.

The fire department was still trying to put out the fire by 8.30 in the morning. Rumours that the shop was also looted were confirmed as false news by Colin David of the Mi7 National Group.
