KwaZulu-Natal Premier Sihle Zikalala has described the province’s former premier, Dr Ben Ngubane, who died on Monday morning, as a unifier who played a crucial role in building the foundation for the KZN government.

Ngubane died at a Richards Bay hospital, where he was receiving treatment after falling ill about two weeks ago.

Zikalala said Ngubane, who later became an ambassador and Eskom board chairperson, was a visionary leader. “The province has lost a stalwart servant, a fine scholar and a true visionary who led the drive for economic and political unity in the province,” he said.
