The emergence of a new, highly transmissible, Covid-19 variant has catapulted South Africa closer to a fourth wave of infections.

Experts, scientists and government, working together, are predicting that a fourth wave could begin as early as December.

The new Covid-19 variant B.1.1.529 was pinpointed in Gauteng where experts say it is spreading rapidly with Covid-19 infection numbers this week four times higher than last week.
