Two currently unregistered students have been arrested in connection with the arson attack on the Oval student residence at the University of KwaZulu-Natal’s Westville campus in Durban, which took place early on Sunday, October 11.

UKZN said in a statement its leadership “applauds law enforcement agencies for the swift arrests made”.

“This building [the Oval] is in the process of being closed due to severe health and safety regulation breaches that the university is currently dealing with. Fortunately, no one was injured in the attack.
