Chaos erupted during the Alfred Duma municipal inauguration after political parties refused to accept the newly elected IFP speaker Zama Joel Sibisi on Monday at the Ladysmith Indoor Sports Centre.

Police, public safety officers, and local security guards had to step in after some in the gathering resorted to violence.

The ANC and NFP refused to continue with the inauguration, due to the fact that the parties did not agree on the IEC election process of the speaker.
