Every time there is a heavy storm, the Maharaj family are forced to watch helplessly as water streams through their property in Allandale, Pietermaritzburg.

The rain water should flow into one of two municipal stormwater drains in Moosa Road, but instead streams cascade downhill into their home and garden.

In a video seen by The Witness the water can be seen flowing off the road, down the driveway and garden into the carport.
