The worst is over for students and residents after a fire ravaged part of the University of Cape Town’s building.

“We were preparing for the test and then people from our academic groups were asking whether we will still write because of the fire. Then I knew what was wrong,” said Nombuso Mbokazi, a second year BCom Accounting student.

Mbokazi lives at the Clarinus student residence, which is situated near Table Mountain, in the vicinity of where the fire is reported to have been started by a vagrant on Sunday.
