OPINION:

The decision by the ANC’s KwaZulu-Natal provincial leaders to back former president Jacob Zuma in his legal battles is at best contradictory and at worst self-serving.

At any other period in the history of the ANC, particularly during the dark days of apartheid when the party was waging a liberation struggle, the decision to support a leader facing criminal charges would have been a noble one.
