When we first went farming at Curry’s Post, the road from Howick to the farm was gravel, all 20 kilometres.
In summer when it rained, we slid and skidded all the way to Howick and back. Sometimes we got stuck in the thick clay-mud which Curry’s Post is famous for and had to wait for the tractor to pull us out. In winter, we coughed and spluttered our way through the thick dust. Our bakkies and cars were either full of mud or covered in fine dust.
