OPINION:

The South African Medical Association (Sama) has raised its concerns that the latest regulations around level three lockdown fall too short. When President Cyril Ramaphosa presented these as he addressed the nation on Tuesday night, many others also expected him to impose harsher restrictions.

Sama is concerned that schools are still open, travel is still allowed and public transport can continue as it is. They believe this is misguided. Instead, they feel the restrictions should have honed in on the way people live their lives, and not just on the alcohol trading hours limitations and stricter curfew measures.
