Young Maritzburg United striker Bongokuhle Hlongwane will need to overcome an ankle injury soon to return to club action and then possibly his maiden Bafana Bafana duty.
New Bafana coach Hugo Broos named a 19-member squad, including Hlongwane and clubmate Thabiso Kutumela, to play the Ugandan Cranes in a friendly international match on June 10.The match will be played at Orlando Stadium and kicks off at 6 pm.
Hlongwane missed Maritzburg’s last game through an ankle injury and will be eager to get fit soon.
There will be two club matches in the DStv Premiership before the Bafana match. The match against the East Africans will be the first for Bafana Bafana since the final Afcon qualifying match against Sudan in Khartoum in March which South Africa lost 2-0.
The friendly match with Uganda is part of Bafana Bafana’s preparations for the upcoming Qatar 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers.
