Western Province Cricket Association confirmed on Tuesday that former Proteas batsman Hashim Amla has made the decision to not return to domestic cricket in South Africa.

Originally named in the WP squad for the 2021/2022 season, the 38-year-old Amla, who has been playing in England, thanked WP for their “understanding” after he made this decision to not return to the South African domestic scene.

A replacement in the WP squad of 16 contracted players will be announced in due course.
